Most people like to take a break to talk, call someone or even walk to their office just to stretch their legs a little and leave the computer for a while and for those people it's incredibly hard to use something like Yammer to communicate with someone near by. On the other hand I made a small experiment and asked my team mates to try and use Yammer for 2 days and the result was really positive in terms of schedules and work done.
